The Power of Playtime
Playtime with your new “Besty” is more than just a fun activity - it’s a key part of helping pets feel safe and cared for in a new environment. For pets in crisis, play reduces stress, encourages bonding, and builds confidence.
“Play is the highest form of research.” — Albert Einstein
Here are four ways to make playtime powerful:
1. Start Slow - Begin with gentle toys like feather wands, puzzle feeders, or soft tug ropes. This helps pets ease into play without feeling overwhelmed.
2. Be Consistent - Just 10–15 minutes of play each day can reduce stress, improve behavior, and help pets feel secure in your care.
3. Mix It Up - Rotate toys and activities to keep things fresh. Try fetch, hide-and-seek with treats, or scent-based games for mental stimulation.
4. Watch Their Cues - Some pets may need more time to adjust. Let them set the pace and choose the activities that bring them comfort.
By making play a part of your daily Pet Caregiver routine, you’re giving pets a positive outlet for their energy and emotions - and providing their families with peace of mind knowing their beloved companion is thriving.
