Partner Spotlight on My Dog Is My Home

Week of August 11th, 2025

Joining Forces with My Dog Is My Home through the Co-Sheltering Collaborative

In response to the growing need for collaboration, My Dog Is My Home created the Co-Sheltering Collaborative: an international network of providers, organizations, and advocates working toward the common goal of keeping people and their pets together. BestyBnB is proud to take an active role in this Collaborative. Last year, our Director of Engagement and Program Development, Zoë Agnew-Svoboda, was honored to be named Co-Chair of the Equitable Access to Care Working Group.

The Equitable Access to Care Working Group (EAC), formed through the Co-Sheltering Collaborative, is composed of cross-sector, international members dedicated to ensuring pet owners can access the care they need to keep their pets as lifelong companions. The group meets monthly to foster meaningful discussion, share resources, and hear from subject matter experts, many of whom are members themselves, on how they address disparities in access to care in their communities.

While originally focused on access to veterinary care, the working group’s mission recently evolved, expanding its scope to promote equitable access to all forms of care for pet owners. As part of this evolution, EAC has integrated smaller working groups and established a growing number of subcommittees focused on specific areas such as rural access to care, pet food pantry support, and resource sharing. This change was facilitated in response to the insight and contributions of its members and with the support of Zoë’s leadership.

This opportunity for collaboration has strengthened BestyBnB’s collective impact by allowing us to work alongside visionary leaders from around the world, who are committed to creating inclusive, human-animal support systems. We are deeply grateful to be working with My Dog Is My Home and the members of the Co-Sheltering Collaborative, who are building a future where no one has to choose between their safety and their pet.
